The Final Warning (Part 1)
When we think of the phrase final, we perceive it as applying to something that will not be followed by another of its sort. The majority of them that proclaim Christ have remained ignorant to a final warning that was given by Christ. Some are ignorant simply because they just don’t care; while others are ignorant because they have no clear understanding of the validity of this warning.
In consideration of the word ignorance, many perceive it to mean something in the neighborhood of stupidity. In actuality, the root word of ignorant or ignorance is ignore. In order to ignore something, you must first be aware of it. The decision to disregard a certain thing can now be made, after the awareness is there. Now I would like to confront the most frightening scripture revealed by the words of Christ. The most frightening, yet the most ignored.
Not only will I make the scripture clear, but I’m going to reveal to you the lapse in our spiritual walk that will cause this scripture to be a possible danger not only in your own life but in our salvation as well.
In Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus said,”
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Iniquity is defined as gross and unfair behavior. And iniquity unchecked can lead to the manifestation of pet sins. The kind of iniquity that Christ was referring to is found in the depth of a heart that has not been surrendered to God. That type of iniquity finds power in taking the name of the Lord in vain. The word God**** is not taking his name in vain. The word God constitutes what he is, not who he is. But the name of the Lord Yahweh bears power over all things physical and spiritual. but if you believe that you can come before him through the glory and power of the name of Jesus, without subjectivity to the things of Christ, then you’ve got another thing coming.
You have no idea how many people unknowingly go forward, supposedly in the name of the Lord, but are committing an act of stolen valor. I’ve heard it said,” The Lord knows my heart.” He certainly does, and for that reason many will hear the words depart from me, ye that work iniquity. For everything that you have done has been by my power, but to your own glory.
The scriptures tell us that our salvation is not by works, but we tap into his power to commit every possible work in order that we might be exalted. Verse 22 Jesus said. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Christ Rose for this reason, that the will of the father might live in us through the revelations of the Holy Spirit.
The will of the father can only be known by those who have truly surrendered their heart to him and have become subject to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Not every excellent work is a God work. Especially if it forms self elevation. When a man has failed to surrender the fullness of his heart to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, his intellect has power to manipulate the heart.
When the intellect finds its way ahead of the heart, it can lead it into a travesty of lies. Just this week I had a customer say to me that God did not give us the 10 Commandments because it was only meant for the Jews. I don’t know, maybe you believe that too. Because in this day men have been tossed to and fro with the winds of every doctrine, having no foundational principles. even walking in an abundance of unchecked iniquities that have led them back to the gate of sin. Possibly even going into a realm of a sin unto death.
I John 5:16 says
16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it
I pray that this first segment of this study series has at least gotten your attention. The scripture says that judgment shall start at the house of the Lord, and the hour swiftly approaches. On the next post we will deal with the sin unto death and how the masses of the professed body will fall into that category.
